About the Center

Established in 1960, the Middle East Center of the University of Utah offers students, faculty, and the larger community opportunities for the advancement of understanding of the Middle East. Our activities include conferences, lecture series, workshops, continuing education courses, and teacher outreach. Distinguished scholars of the Middle East from around the world are invited to participate in these events with conference papers often published by scholarly presses. In addition, the MEC offers opportunities for intensive language study, fieldwork, internships, and research in a number of countries of the Middle East.
